One of the most beautiful Alpine Gardens in Europe is situated on the Villacher Alpe (Dobratsch, 2166 m). It can be reached in a few minutes from the parking area 6/ 'Alpengarten' on the panoramic road leading upwards.

The garden extends to 10.000 m2 and flowerlovers can discover and admire there the flora of the Alps. Walking through the garden they have a beautiful view of the 'Julische Alpen'. Throughout the summer there is an abundance of Alpine flowers in blossom and the specialist has the opportunity to get to know rare specimens of plants, such as the wulfenia carinthiaca Jacq., whose natural habitat is the Gartnerkofel near Hermagor and which flowers in the middle of June.

A beautifully illustrated booklet by Prof. Helmut Hecke is available to guide you through this unique natural garden.
